Built using 6 64x64 LED matrix panels and powered by a Raspberry Pi, the cube can
display images, play videos, connect to spotify and more. The cube works by hosting an express
server which serves the webapp where users can change what is being displayed on the cube and the
brightness of the LEDs. By utilizing the Spotify API the cube can display the album artwork and song
title of whatever you happen to be listening to. The cube also has a paint mode which lets users
choose a color and draw along the faces of the cube.
The cube houses 4 6600mAh lipo batteries, the Raspberry Pi, wires for the panels, and the battery
controllers all neatly inside on a custom 3D printed chasis. The panels are pressure fitted into 3D
printed frames which snap fit together. The cube was modeled in Autodesk Fusion 360 and the final
model can be seen below.
